Marta´s Farm is a luxurious country house with private pool for 10 guests – a place where you can enjoy a true Alentejo experience, tailored to suit your private group’s needs and interests or a corporate event.
Extremely comfortable and equipped to a high standard, this Portuguese quinta is suited for year-round rentals – the crisp and clear winter days are ideal for exploring the Alentejo and all it has to offer with fireplaces beckoning you in the evenings; whereas in the summer heat, you’ll be taking refuge by the swimming pool during the day and having outdoor evening meals.
Designed around the owner’s great love of horses and heroine Conchita Citrón (famous female American Portuguese bullfighter), all 5 double/twin bedroom suites have orthopedic beds with down duvets and mosquito netting on the windows with the master bedroom on the top floor, enjoying landscape views of the surrounding countryside. The 100 sq square metres living room has a TV (Portuguese channels only), a cinema screen, a library of DVDs (on request), a backgammon set, card games and wifi; whilst the 50 sq metres dining room can sit a maximum of 16 guests around the table (but extra sitting up to 30 people can be arranged). Both the living and dining rooms have fireplaces, as well as open to covered terraces for dining outdoors and the pool area. The kitchen offers a fantastic space for a large group to cook together, should you wish to book a lesson in local gastronomy.
Exterior amenities include a covered terraces, a salt treated swimming pool surrounded by a large lawn area with oversized sun-loungers and shade, plus a jogging circuit or horse riding for those keen on exercise. This unique rental property is surrounded by 87 hectares of unspoilt countryside planted with cork trees and holm oaks and is a place where serenity reins (except for the odd moo of a cow), somewhere you can inhale pure oxygen, and totally relax!
Despite the tranquility, there’s plenty to do for those of a more active disposition. The Alto Alentejo where Marta’s Farm is located, boasts two UNESCO Heritage Sites (Elvas and Évora); several castles and local markets; a total of 33 wine cellars within close proximity where an educational wine tasting visit is a must; as well as being close to the Spanish border! The stunning Alentejo landscape is somewhat reminiscent of the African plains and no less beautiful, and the countryside here ideally suited to nature walks or bird watching – in the spring wild flowers abound and in the summer the golden sunsets are stunning. Please note – No children under 5 years of age are accepted at this property! As well as horses there are other farm animals including a dog (usually tied up when clients are about) and cats.

ACCOMMODATION – 10 GUESTS

GROUND FLOOR – Entrance hall and guest WC. Two twin bedroom suites (large single beds of 2 x 1,15 metres) each with a shower bathroom; double bedroom suite (bed size 2,40 x 1,80 meres) with shower bathroom; double bedroom suite (bed size 2 x 1,85 metres) with full bathroom and hand held shower. Very spacious living room and dining room with full use of formal dining service, wine & champagne glasses; both of these rooms open to covered terraces for dining outdoors and the pool area. Spacious and fully equipped kitchen (including fridge/freezer, gas hob & oven, microwave, juicer, coffee machine, electric food mixer, etc); utility room with wine cellar. Outdoor access to extra bedroom single bedroom plus a pullout bed with shower bathroom, also equipped with fitness bar and spinning bike (on request); fully equipped laundry room (staff use only).
FIRST FLOOR – Master bedroom suite with 4-poster bed (bed size 2,10 x 1,90 metres), dressing area, study with open fireplace, bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and separate walk-in shower.

STAFF & SERVICES

Resident staff of 2 (speaking Portuguese/English) for regular cleaning, personal laundry, preparing and cooking 2 meals a day (clients choice) as well supervising the property in general – 8 hours p/day included in the rental

Most of the 37 surrounding Alentejo towns also host a Summer Festival during the summer months including a market, live music concerts & bull fights).

BOOKING/CANCELLATION TERMS

— 30 % non-refundable deposit required to reserve the property
— Rental balance due 6 weeks prior to start of date of rental
— Security deposit of €2,500 to be paid by bank transfer in advance of rental or locally at the property – this amount is intended to cover possible damage of small objects; for the damage of bigger and more valuable objects, such as painting or carpets, clients are obliged to pay the real value of that object. The security deposit amount minus any applicable charges is refundable at the end of the holiday.
